The Lake House James Patterson Books
First off, I love to read James Patterson. That being said, this book was disappointing. After reading several reviews, pro and con, I decided I had to read it and decide for myself. It just didn't "sound" like James Patterson. I only gave it 3 stars because I love some of the characters in his other books. Someone mentioned all the exclamation points - yup, there are a lot of them. Someone else mentioned choppy sentences, yup, lots of them, too. You have to assume a lot when you read this book - like how did the bad guys keep finding them? You have to assume that maybe the cars were lo-jacked or maybe Frannie and gang were constantly followed. And bird-kids having sex? I'm not even going to go there except to say it was mentioned a couple times that the kids were older in "bird years". I kinda figured Max was going to wind up pregnant, but she laid eggs? Okay. And I have to admit, Frannie did kind of seem like a twit. The title didn't make sense either since they didn't even wind up at the Lake House until the very end . Not at all what I expected of a James Patterson novel. I almost had to force myself to finish it. I'm not sorry I read it because it did satisfy my curiosity. But, I think I'll stick to Alex Cross, Michael Bennett and Detectives Jordan and McDonald.Tags : Amazon.com: The Lake House (9780446696586): James Patterson: Books,James Patterson,The Lake House,Grand Central Publishing,0446696587,Psychological,FICTION Psychological,FICTION Science Fiction Genetic Engineering,FICTION Thrillers Medical,FICTION Thrillers Supernatural,FICTION Thrillers Suspense,FICTION Thrillers Technological,Fiction,Fiction - Science Fiction,Fiction-ActionAdventure,GENERAL,General Adult,PATTERSON, JAMES - PROSE & CRITICISM,Science Fiction - General,Thrillers - Suspense, genetic engineering; when the wind blows series; science fiction; sci fi; sff; james patterson books; mystery & thrillers suspense; sci fi mystery books; science fiction mystery; sci fi thrillers; maximum ride; maximum ride series; supernatural; fantasy; adventure; blind character; chinese characters; asian characters; colorado; genetics; crime fiction; mysteries; mystery thriller suspense books; fbi thrillers
The Lake House James Patterson Books Reviews
I read this book years ago in paper back but re-read it recently on .
version review This is clearly an older book when you read it on - it doesn't have the navigation of the more recent books, books that were actually published with in mind. There is no table of contents. The typesetting is fine, the pagination is fine, it's just the navigation that presents problems.
Story review I really like James Patterson. Even his mediocre stuff is still fun to read. This story definitely falls into that category, especially if you are reading it and When the Wind Blows in a fairly close span. That said, keeping in mind that this was written years (even decades?) later the repetitive nature of the stories is understandable. This story has some of its own fun parts (the robots, the clones) that are different from the fun parts of When The Wind Blows. I personally can forgive the author for wanting to revisit the bird kids. And there aren't a lot of situations in which they can be inserted. So the mimicry of the original story is partly due to audience demand to hear from them again, and they are still fun, after all, to paraphrase, who of us has never dreamt of flying?
So overall, it's a decent read. If you've read when the wind blows recently you may wish to wait some time before reading this, but otherwise it is totally worthwhile.
I enjoyed When the Wind Blows better than Lake House. More personable relationships in Book 1. More to keep me reading in book 1.
With every flash of danger and each soaring flight of victory, I was flying with these great kids. Intelligence and childish wonder made this story so wondrous to read and participate in. I flew.
This is a most unusual story. It is about winged people. There also were most unusual villains. Also there were most unusual heroes.
I ended up with "When the wind blows" for 59 cents at some kind of a sale in a warehouse my ma took me to. I'm not too big into sci-fi, but the title intrigued me... I couldn't stop reading it. Patterson is a phenomenal writer. I didn't think twice before buying this book, and I wasn't disappointed. It was part of the original story. There's nothing boring about it whatsoever. WHat people were expecting reading it, I don't know. I have no regrets!
I LOVE and ADORE James Patterson! I also loved and adored this book which was riveting full of twists and turns which left me wishing the book was longer. If it were food, I would want Fries and a Coke with chocolate cake chaser!
This is the first James Patterson book I've read. I liked it. I didn't know when I started it that it was the second book in the series (of 2) but it didn't matter except I probably will never read the first book now. I thought the book had a good pace. It kept my interest. I gave it 3 stars because it was a very light read, meaning the plot could have been more involved/detailed in certain areas.
I absolutely plan to read Patterson again.
