As usual, when I found this book on my Kindle (I pre-ordered it), I immediately opened and began reading. Almost read it in a day, even though I had tons of real-life stuff to do.

Brody, a sexy wolf shifter and former military hero, gets captured. The evil "master" has nefarious plans for him, which includes Brody getting stuck in a cell with a dark beauty - Layla. As always with an Eve Langlais book, hilarity and hotness ensue. There is a reason that Layla nicknames Brody "thud" - I'll let you find out for yourself.

Most of the book concentrates on Brody, Layla, and "master", though there are a few of the Kodiak Point residents that remain in the story. She also sets up nicely for the next book, which I really look forward to as well!

Reading the other stories in the series is not required, but it is a great series and you will want to!

Langlais makes the most ridiculous of situations seem not just possible, but completely and utterly plausible. She makes romance fun, real, and more than just a little quirky. The fast paced and suspenseful plot was well balanced with the joys of life and intricately crafted characters. I like how she works what it means to be a shifter right into the story rather than as something forced in or left to chance.

Brody was priceless. His inner monologue was brilliant. I love the different personalities between him and his wolf. They were a lot of fun to get to know. Layla’s otherness made her something special. Not human, but not shifter, she was still a fantastic match for Brody’s bossy yet fun personality. Langlais backs these two up with a fantastic cast of characters that I’ve come to know and love throughout the series.

Once again Langlais has created a fun filled and fantastic paranormal romance that readers are bound to love. I love the balance of fun and suspense, the real and the paranormal, altogether creating an unforgettable read.
In the fourth Kodiak Point book, Layla’s being used by the Master to attack Kodiak Point. Brody finds her, but is captured. They’re thrown into a cage, and well, romance happens.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between
-Easy read been sneaking in chapters of this between books. Enjoyable enough to keep me interested, but easy enough to put down/pick up without too much hassle.

-Really liking the Kodiak Point ‘verse each book has built on the foundation, and the ongoing mystery of who the Master is keeps me intrigued. The heroes have been funny, enough of the “mine” mentality tempered (mostly) with heroines who don’t let them run roughshod over them.

-Brody’s a cocky hero Brody’s pretty sure of himself. Loved it when he teased Layla, but loved even more that he didn’t pull back from his feelings once he realized she was it for him.

-Layla’s a pretty good heroine she has her own powers, though I would have liked to delve into those a bit more. She takes the wind of out Brody’s sails in a fun way (loved it when she called him Thud) and she’s not just a damsel in distress.

-Not a real standalone While the story is self-contained the overarching storyline of the series is such that I really don’t think it would be as easy for a newbie to pick up this book and enjoy it as much - I’d recommend starting from the beginning.

-From zero to sixty in the ILU dept They went from teasing to sex to love pretty quick, but there’s almost an expectation for that in shifter romances, and I can handle that as long as the story’s entertaining enough and it was in this case.

The Bottom Line
Eve Langlais’ writing amuses me and the worlds she creates are interesting. I enjoyed Brody and Layla’s story and I’m looking forward to the next book.
Well...I wasn't sure what to expect from Brody's character. Boy was I kinda surprised. He just comes across as really goofy and full of himself...but in a good funny way. I did laugh at this thoughts and antics. LOL. Layla I felt really bad for her. I mean she has been in captivity since she was 14 thats 9 years. Think of all the things she's missed. Learning to drive, finishing high school...just being a kid and a girl for that matter. She's funny and silly in her own right. She trusts nobody which she learned the hard way. She's very talented and has a very special gift. I'm not quite sure exactly what she is and its not really revealed. I dont think she's anything...she just has a talent do with with animals and insects. Its kinda cool. Once she's used as "bait" to capture Brody she is intent on not trusting him even though she kinda wants to and desires him. He definitely desires her after he sort of comes to the realization she's an innocent. It did take him a few to come to that conclusion. You cant blame him for being wary. I thought it was kinda low that he used her the way he did in the shower. That was sort of over the line in my opinion. He could have just asked her and I firmly believe she would have told him what he wanted to know at some point. I guess though she didnt care either way because she got off right? LOL. He kept going back and forth and not wanting to "want" her but he couldnt help it plus his wolfie was pushing him pretty hard. ) This "master" needs to be taken down hes nuts! A snake thingy? Weird. The saga continues and can't wait to read about Travis. ) He's so funny and kinda wet behind the ears. I very much enjoyed this book. Couldnt put it down.
